Andrew, thank you for your explanation.
It should be fine to use optional with default as a parameter, no mater which
side default is in use. It could be implemented in any language since at the
moment of actual handler call parameter would be defined - either from default
value, or value passed from client. IMHO Compiler should complain about pure
optional without default only.
