i went through and unified the interfaces of the erlang membuffer, socket,
file, buffered and framed transports. i've also added tests for all of them.
i've also integrated anthony molinaro's work in THRIFT-2842
testing uncovered a few possible bugs/errors that i've also fixed with this
patch
