Right we have a new version. But that plugin is placed under /contrib [which 
means it is not meant to be part of regular

The history of this can be found in THRIFT-1536. I personally can't see any 
reason why this decision can't be re-discussed, but I personally don't use 
Java, so I would recommend to put taht matter onto the dev mailing list 
instead. If there is a consensus and the necessary work done to integrate it 
into normal release processes ... 

PS: Maintainers are not "less poor" :) by any means, trust me. This is all 
voluntary work, and FOSS ... all fully accessible.  No offence.
