We typically update to the latest version of things unless there is some 
specific reason not to (bug, performance problem, etc). I dont think this is a 
hard/fast rule. Given that we are doing this upgrade close to release, we might 
also consider that - latest/greatest may not be the best choice. Historically 
speaking Netty is a pretty safe upgrade for us though.
