Cole Greer commented on TINKERPOP-2294: --------------------------------------- I don't see any major usability concerns with the Python GLV at this time. I'm also fairly unclear on what the requests are here. Some pieces here appear to be requesting beginner tutorials for Python and others seem to be requesting porting TinkerGraph or some other embedded graph to Python. Adding an embedded graph in Python is well outside of the current scope of what GLV's are meant to provide and there doesn't seem to be much interest in developing such a graph. I am closing this Jira for now as there doesn't seem to be any traction behind it and the deliverables are unknown. If you feel there is still grounds for improvement here, please reopen the issue and specify which sort of additions you are looking for. If the ask is for developing an embedded graph in Python though that would need someone to champion the concept and drive the development of it. > Gremlin-Python usability and tutorial > ------------------------------------- > > Key: TINKERPOP-2294 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TINKERPOP-2294 > Project: TinkerPop > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: python, translator > Affects Versions: 3.4.3 > Reporter: Wolfgang Fahl > Priority: Major > > The Gremlin-Python environment is not useable "out of the box" at this time > and hard to configure. It needs a specially configured gremlin-server for > each use case. > The handling of the server configuration and startup could be simplified if > it would be done by some kind of API instead of the YAML file. Especially it > is important to make graph io available to be able to create python specific > tutorials that are based on typical databases. The handling of typical > backend database configurations should be simplified. > > -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.20.10#820010)
