Hi everyone,
I've prepared a draft of the quarterly ASF Board Report. Please let me
know if you have any suggestions or would like any additions.
---------------
## Description:
Apache TinkerPop is a graph computing framework for both graph databases
(OLTP) and graph analytic systems (OLAP).
## Project Status:
The project is ongoing with high activities this past quarter. There are no
issues requiring board attention.
## Membership Data:
Apache TinkerPop was founded 2016-05-17 (10 years ago)
There are currently 31 committers and 16 PMC members in this project.
The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 2:1.
Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Cole Greer on 2025-06-02.
- No new committers. Last addition was Andrea Child on 2025-08-11.
## Project Activity:
The project maintained strong development momentum this quarter, with the
release of TinkerPop 4.0.0-beta.3 in July [1], followed by maintenance
releases of TinkerPop 3.7.7 and 3.8.2 in September [2] [3].
Security has been a core focus of these releases. As AI lowers the
barrier for
threat actors to discover and exploit software vulnerabilities, the
community
continues to prioritize a stronger security posture across both the
maintenance
lines and the 4.0 development effort.
TinkerPop 4.0.0-beta.3 advances the next major version with a redesigned
match() step based on TinkerGQL, an integration of the ISO standard query
language for graphs. It also introduces optional multi-labelled vertices and
improved handling for dynamic traversal arguments in steps such as has(),
resolving a long-standing pain point for users.
Alongside these features, the release enables Java 21 and 25 support and
continues to round out the 4.0 feature set. The community continues active
development on maintenance updates for the 3.7.x/3.8.x lines and on
stabilizing
TinkerPop 4.0 toward a full release.
### Releases:
4.0.0-beta.3 was released on 2026-07-20.
3.7.7 was released on 2026-09-01.
3.8.2 was released on 2026-09-01.
## Community Health:
The TinkerPop community maintains strong engagement with consistent
contributions from core committers and active participation from users
on the
dev list and in our Discord server.
This quarter featured two live ContributorCast sessions on Twitch [4]
reviewing the releases. Recordings will be available on our YouTube channel
