http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=39766 Summary: Long running threads created in servlet init never die when webapp reloaded Product: Tomcat 5 Version: 5.0.28 Platform: All OS/Version: Windows XP Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: Catalina AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I create a long running (low priority) daemon thread in the init method of a servlet and everytime the webapp is restarted the init method is called and a new thread is created. As far as I know there is no way to kill threads that have already been created. If a webapp were restarted continuously then eventually the server will run out of memory because of all the running threads created in the init method. To give you a little more context, the purpose of the long running thread is to remove objects out of a cache if they have expired by waking up periodically and looking for expired objects in the cache. There may be other solutions to this, but it is still a problem that these threads get created and there is no way to clean them up. -- Configure bugmail: http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
