Would you think to do this now or would that switch be better left to Tomcat 10 branch? There is some legacy stuff in FastHttpDateFormat marked for removal in Tomcat 10. I don't mind having a go at this but it is a bigger change than the fix I submitted and there are no unit tests to fall back on.
