This might be worth a try, though we don't have any part of the release process that is currently maven-driven. The closest we come is having a separate build file for pushing Maven artifacts. But we could have something similar for ATR. I'm not really a fan of having to expand the build toolchain a lot, but if all you need is Maven x.y.z and it fetches its own dependencies, it might make the process simpler.
I must admit I've only tried ATR maybe 3 times and each time it got better. But it's always manual work.
