Creating issues for Everything, no matter how trivial, is perfectly correct. It is often the trivial things that get forgotten. Every contribution is extremely valuable to the project, so keep doing what you're doing! It is really appreciated by everyone.
Something that is often missing, even for trivial issues, are test cases. Every test case becomes part of the project and helps ensure and improve the project stability. It should be a part of just about every JIRA issue to include some kind of test. http://www.tomitribe.com - @AndyGeeDe - On a mobile device, and I have fat fingers. Sorry for typos.
