You and I seem to be of the exact same perspective. We should probably vote as there's more than one of us who have the same view. In the past, we typically have had people try out the milestone releases, such as Alex The Rocker and others. From a media/marketing/awareness perspective it allows us to build some awareness a major release is coming, making the major release itself more widely anticipated. I don't really see too many downsides other than "lost time" On timing, we do have an opportunity to release our TomEE 8 the same day as the future Jakarta EE 8 release. That would be super sexy. All we need are a milestone or two to get there. I might be alone in that last one, but I typically like to "go big" and aim for the hugest splash possible. I think we as a community might actually enjoy having a goal to rally around: get Jakarta EE 8 certified and release. It would be like the old days :) -David
