Forwarding this to dev@ with Jeff's permission - thanks Jeff! Feel free to followup here if you need any help at all.

Things in this area are a little tricky in that we support a couple of different database pools - Tomcat JDBC and DBCP, and the properties are slightly different for each. They also vary slightly between TomEE 1.7.x and TomEE 7.x and later. There is a list of properties by datasource here: http://tomee.apache.org/datasource-configuration-by-creator.html. I wrote that page, so feel free to blame me for any inaccuracies :-) (it is a little old, so definitely worth checking that the properties apply to master). Taking that information and formatting into an .adoc in here: https://github.com/apache/tomee/tree/master/docs is great. As a newcomer, if there is something you think is missing that would help, feel free to add it. If you need help, let us know on the list and we're happy to help. I apologize that your JIRA comment didn't get a reply. The list is a little quieter today than it has been over the last couple of weeks - I think a few folks are out. My son woke up covered with chicken pox this morning, so I had to look after him while my wife worked, so I'm definitely behind today. In terms of etiquette, in general at the ASF, the rule is "if it didn't happen on the mailing list, it didn't happen". JIRA comments do get forwarded to commits@, and so do GitHub comments - the result is we get buried in them when we're busy. Discussions on the list tend to be a bit more visible. I'd encourage you to not be shy and post on the list - hopefully we're a welcoming bunch! I hope that helps. Thank you for contributing! Do you have any objections if I forward this back to the mailing list?
