Dmitriy,
I am grateful for your response. Since being told of this project by Dave
Fisher, I have been getting auto-generated e-mails perhaps because of the
project's infancy. I appreciate the need for infrastructure (as with the test
of the JIRA e-mail) so perhaps it is too early for me to consider committing.
One of the things that puzzles me about the ASF is the projects do not
immediately have a known personality or human face. There appears to be little
venue for that face to be a vocal advocate of a project (as versus an open core
vendor who may or may not be an advocate). Training.apache.org from its
inception is competing heavily against entities creating their own branded
licensed software derived from the freely available information from the ASF.
I suspect that the training materials committed to and provided by this project
need to be superior to the materials of the open core vendors. That vetting
for "superiority" will take a great deal of effort for "competitive analysis"
to stay attractive and "competitive" compared to open core course offerings.
If the project succeeds it may swing the pendulum in favor of open source from
open core.
My company has created a 5-day Metron class we would like to submit as a test
subject so we can learn how to support this project.
Best Regards,
Daryl
.

Hi Daryl,
Actually, this is automatic message aimed to remind community members on JIRA
tasks.
It is being build using JIRA ticket statuses and send to the dev. list weekly.
BTW, Apache projects does not have a single leader, each project is guided by
it's PMC - project management committee. In this case, since project is in
incubator , by Polding PMC, PPMC.
Sincerely,
Dmitriy Pavlov
