We have started to get more and more students interested in our ideas
for the GSoC Program. Any committer can volunteer as mentors, and
being a mentor is not that difficult, and shouldn't take a lot of time
from you... and I take it as basically giving help/attention to a new
community member, and off course, the whole community is there to help
as well. Having said that, I'd like to encourage people to volunteer
as mentors by doing the following:

1) Start reviewing and commenting on current students proposals
2) Subscribe to code-awards if you haven't done so in past years by
sending an e-mail to [email protected]
3) Register to the GSoC 2009 Application, and add your GSoC link Id to
https://svn.apache.org/repos/private/committers/GsocLinkId.txt
4) Pair with a student and click the "willing to be a mentor" in the
GSoC app when time comes (see code-awards mails for this).

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask either
here or in the code-awards mailing list. I have also added [2] and [3]
as references here.
