The current Bytes implementation uses direct allocation. This gets expensive when you perform a lot of small allocations quickly. A better way might be to approach a large direct buffer and allocate portions of it to smaller bytes objects. An other set of approaches is to use a file-backed bytes object or simply the heap. Offer options to use: * Direct * Heap * File * Large direct cache This can also be specialized for 32 bytes objects vs general bytes buffer.
