Jeffrey E Rodriguez commented on TWILL-44:
-------------------------------------------
Hi Andreas, I think this Jira is quite interesting.
# It would be nice to have Python Runnables.
# It also it would be nice if we could create a Python virtual envs on Yarn
containers ( as described in
"[http://docs.python-guide.org/en/latest/dev/virtualenvs/ )
|http://docs.python-guide.org/en/latest/dev/virtualenvs/)" and then if clients
could submit python code that can run in on of the environments that customer
choose (part of the Twill runnable).
Cheers,
Jeff Rodriguez
> Support non-Java Runnables
> --------------------------
>
> Key: TWILL-44
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TWILL-44
> Project: Apache Twill
> Issue Type: New Feature
> Reporter: Andreas Neumann
> Priority: Major
>
> According to an email on the weave mailing list:
> "The Api is too complex and prone to error for data scientists with little
> knowledge in Java. Using a scripting language such as python or Perl would be
> a great approach. "
> A first step could be to support Runnables that are not it Java whereas the
> Twill client would still be Java.
