How are you. Here with sending the scope of the project, work break
down schedule and the deliverable.
I am vijaychandran an Industrial engineering Graduate student from
University of South Florida. I had similar experience in conducting case
studies for the Human Computer Interface. I had relevant course
experience in work study and statistical skills which will be helping
towards the successful completion of the project.
Project Title Plan and Conduct Usability Studies
OpenOffice.org
Synopsis
Validation and HCI of user interface in OpenOffice against the
corresponding functions in competitive products (Excel, Quattro Pro,
StarOffice, Lotus 1-2-3, EasyOffice).
Benefits to the OpenOffice Community
By ensuring that OpenOffice functions correctly execute the community
itself can sell the product to individuals who are considering switching
from competitors. Outside of the community, individuals who are curious
after reading an article in a trade magazine can compare the product
with competitors.
Deliverables
List of available function to be modified
Test Cases for each function
Discrepancy list by competing program (functions are absent in OpenOffice)
Discrepancy test case list by competing program & approachability
PDF document summarizing usability interface
Finalized document summarizing discrepancies and deduced reasons for
discrepancies
Project Details
Validation of corresponding User Interface from the OpenOffice to
competing software. Starting from the selection and purchase of
competing software a list shall be made of all their functions
(deliverable). Test cases shall be created for competing products and
compared against OpenOffice (deliverable). A list shall be compiled
found on competing products usability interface and for future add-ins
(deliverable). A discrepancy list shall be created consisting of any
competitors products that generated results different from OpenOffice
(deliverable). In the course of defining all , a manual of all functions
shall be created including input values (deliverable). A finalized
document with a summary of findings in a word processor format shall
give future programmers perceived reasons for discrepancies in the
OpenOffice and competitors (deliverable).
Project Schedule
As soon as the go-ahead is given by Google, I would be able to begin
work for the summer period immediately, June 24.
