The Apache UIMA team is pleased to announce the release of Apache UIMA AS, version 2.10.3.

The Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA) is a component framework supporting development, discovery, composition, and deployment of multi-modal analytics tasked with the analysis of unstructured information. The implementation is comprised by an SDK and tooling for composing and running analytic components written in Java and C++, with some support for Perl, Python and TCL.

UIMA AS includes the base UIMA SDK and augments it with a scaleout capability. UIMA components can be run within UIMA AS with no code or component descriptor changes. The components can be scaled up in multiple threads in the same process and scaled out across nodes in a cluster. UIMA AS scaleout is based on JMS with ActiveMQ providing messaging backbone.
