  I can't seem to find the documentation either.  The process IIRC is the
following.

1) Check out the apache source git, not github
2) Pull down the PR branch from GH into a local branch after you're
satisfied with the review
3) Squash merge into the apache master locally, and reference the Apache
ticket number in the merge message.  I'm not 100% sure we always squashed,
but I seem to recall that's what we preferred.
4) Push to apache master.

Once the sync to GH occurs, the PR should be closed.
