John D. Ament commented on USERGRID-226:
----------------------------------------
If you guys are willing to leverage container's support for websockets (e.g.
Tomcat 7.0.late-x or 8.0.x), I'm willing to contribute some code around this
(I'm the one who raised this on the mailing list).
> Real Websocket protocol implementation
> --------------------------------------
>
> Key: USERGRID-226
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/USERGRID-226
> Project: Usergrid
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: Stack
> Affects Versions: 1.0
> Reporter: Nate McCall
>
> We have a websocket implementation currently, but it is highly experimental
> and has not been touched since shortly after inception.
> Given this has come up recently on the mail list, I'm creating this issue as
> a place to capture what it would take to create a real implementation in
> usergrid.
> One of the things mentioned in said mail list discussion was the concept of
> event subscriptions. I think we have most of the plumbing in place to do the
> heavy lifting as of "two-dot-o", so adding listeners may just be a new top of
> top-level entity?
