Resolution: Cannot Reproduce
After a fair amount of testing, I'm thinking this was actually a bug in
Firefox. Reproducing the bug is very non-deterministic. Using a debugger is
showing values for some variables that just don't make any sense. I tested
quite a bit in Chrome and wasn't able to produce the issue at all.
