When initializing VelocityEngine correctly as described here
(http://velocity.apache.org/engine/releases/velocity-1.7/developer-guide.html),
the default log location is replaced by your custom log file location as
desired. For example, like this:

Velocity.setProperty(RuntimeConstants.RUNTIME_LOG,
"path_to_my_velocity_log_file");
Velocity.init();
