Sounds good to me. I can't really help much though. The sad reality is that while i still have a great big soft spot for Velocity, and i'm willing to chime in here and there, i don't have the time to do any notable work. My employer no longer uses server-side templating at all, so i can't hack Velocity on work time, and my personal time is happily devoted to my four kids. I used to have time for Velocity both at work and home, now, not so much.
