What about moving to git?

Where did this request come from?
What motivates this change for me, do you mean? Basically it's the local
branches management which I find the most appealing with git, among
other things. Something that is hardly solved otherwise than with
duplicating and symlinking local checkouts when using svn.
I wouldn't mind that. We need to discuss which repos and how many we
need. Git isn't Subversion. Though, I am fine with both.
I would opt for the most basic migration: one repository for each svn
trunk. I think the site can stay on svn for now, since svn is implied in
the publication process. So:
- velocity-master
- velocity-engine
- velocity-tools
We have the interesting option of dual master repositories (for engine
and tools), which allows pushes both on apache gitbox and github. That
will ease merge requests integration.
