Hi,
i have already some ideas in mind but it takes some time to realize
them as usable graphics.
Best would be to find some application icons as Firefox/Thunderbird
have.
ideas (not for application icons, more for general images for the
download page):
Office -> maybe some kind of cardboard box which you typically find
in shops
Would really like to have such image (in vector), which then could
also replace the bird-image...
SDK -> the office cardboard box with some plugged puzzle pieces ...
URE -> maybe a puzzle symbolic for a collection of UNO components ...
wouldn't these be too confusing with the MS Office logo (or was that
only Office '97?) Especially since we're dealing here with an office
suite.
URE can be seen standalone. The URE offers a component technology with
a base set of components and which can be dynamically extended with
new components. Components as puzzle pieces should symbolize this kind
of building blocks.
At least the artwork for the Windows URE installer uses spanners
replacing the OOo seagulls. Maybe that theme could be reused here.
(Although both, spanners and puzzle pieces, might be a bit boring here...)
i don't like the spanners and if we find something more suitable i would
like to exchange the spanners in the installer as well.
The puzzle pieces are maybe boring, do you have any other idea?
I don't want puzzle pieces only. They should be used to symbolize the
extension feature and should be one part only.
Building blocks with different forms plugged together are also possible
to symbolize the modular design principal.
Any other ideas?
