Hi Leonard,

Uh, what a statement.

(preface: I am biased in this topic. You'll understand when you look
into my signature :)

Some other people already said valid things about a) other components
using Java (e.g. a lot of wizards) b) the power of numbers to prove or
disprove things c) uses of Base's components in OOo's other applications

Let me add something more:

Base does *not* need Java. This is an urban legend which despite our
biggest effort continues to live.

Base allows to connect to a variety of databases, and there are exactly
two (out of 15 or so) cases where you need Java:
1. you want to access a database where you only have a JDBC driver (or
prefer this driver over other ones, e.g. because it is more mature)
2. you want to use the all-in-one-file-database feature of Base, which
is implemented using HSQLDB, a database engine implemented in Java.

For all other cases, you don't. So, when discussing the original topic
of this thread, please don't let wrong facts guide you.

Ciao
Frank
