Well, I will play the devil's advocate and ask why MS Office ships in 2 versions: with and w/o Access?

Because MsOffice is not OpenOffice.org

It is a lot easier to give the user everything, than to give them a long list of all the options. Give users even 2 options, can confuse them. Remember they are no where near as technologically advanced than anyone who will be on this list.

I strongly advocate this as the ultimate solution. Power users that depend on Base will download the full version of OOo

It will take much words to explain users when they need base and when not. (pls read my first post on this subject). This will lead to tremendous confusion and an enormous load of questions on the mailing list :-(

Why do you think that Apple introduced the idea of a universal binary? To make it simple for users. When users have to try and work out whether they have an Intel or a PowerPC processor, they generally struggle.
