Hello and a Happy and Producive New Year to Everyone,

This should catch me up on all my email all at once (whew!) The clips below
span several
lists, but I think the relevant parties are all subscribed here.

And even something new to post, finally!

I made a Why page mockup in the new home page style, along with a few
'finishing touches'
type home page ideas. Content was pasted from the current Why page, changed
here and
there to make the text blocks look more even 8^) My little buddy the seagull is
back (I
can't look him in the eye and pull the trigger, yet!), along with
icon-curve-based tab
images, a much lighter footer (again taken from the current one). I also
brightened up
the blue in the orb icons a bit, along with using "OOo Blue" for links, etc. to
help keep
the logo from looking isolated. Verdana is the Head/Subhead font, Georgia for
body text.
I've uploaded a thumbnail and a description to the wiki, the full size and
source linka
are there as well.

All the content is taken from the current Why page. It would be nice to
see which way their new design is/was headed... Anybody know who's doing that?
Or Where?

I think I will also dig up some other random interior pages and do new-style
versions of
them to see what they might look like and for uniformity's sake.

I added some tab images to the "Why" mockup based on the icon curve.

I like "Verdana, sans-serif" too because nearly everybody has Verdana, and
I've also started using "Georgia Regular, serif" as body text because it's
supposedly Verdana's serif-ed cousin.

I'm will also be looking at some other open source fonts, trying different
things, v3 logo things... 8^)

I felt the header needed to be tied together with something, so the monotone
gull is lighter and soaring in the header now. See also the stay-of-execution
plea above
8^)

Maybe instead of the sliding accordian effect we could make neccessary info
appear in a box on the right-hand side(?)

I changed this too, it's basically the current footer toned down (quite) a bit.

I think the above-mentioned monotone seagull fits with this, I also think
OOo Blue should be carried down through the rest of the page (links dividers,
etc) very, very sparingly, to unify the whole color scheme....

That about does it. Good to be be working with you all again this year!
