Apart from contributing with an update for the page /OOo/contact, I want
to raise "the issue": making [EMAIL PROTECTED] subscription-only.
Not sure about the rem used here...
subscription only might be misleading, as this should be the case
already.
Subscribed users can post directly, without passing through a moderator.
What I meant was "allowed posters only" - which is a different setting
from being subscribed.
With an allowed posters only list, people can still subscribe to get
all the mails, but to post without going through moderators' hands, they
need to be added to a list of allowed posters (the list-administrator
can add/remove people to that list).
OK. Basically I think (do not yet use the word 'propose' ;-) ) about the
current situation, with the difference that all mails that are left
through now by the moderator, get an automatic reply, explaining this
and that. This of course in the understanding that the software handles
DOS attacks appropriate.
The issue sure is mentioned before, but has it ever been discussed by
the entity/project (which ?) that is entitled to decide on this?
Not sure whether this has been discussed before, but this sure adds
quite a burden to the moderators, especially if the list is
high-volume/with lots of casual posters as opposed to a fixed group of
known people who post a lot.
I'll follow Louis's advice and ping CPH shortly.
Thanks,
Cor
