Well, it has worked well for you. But there are people complaining about threading issues, which DiskPageStore doesn't have (doesn't there are no issues we don't know of yet :) )
As for the command line utility, It's not possible as a separate process I'm affraid. You need window manager information which are for performance reasons only held in memory.
