Anything optional is fine, especially if it can be developed
independently (say as a wicket-stuff project).

Yeah, but we would also need to setup our IDEs to support this. And
learn how to use AspectJ. Fine if it is optional, but a big deal if it
were to be part of the/ a core project (which I initially thought you
suggested).
