I had my agent inventory the wicketstuff core modules and it found several modules that are no longer relevant to modern day Wicket and Web.
The inventory is in this ticket: https://github.com/wicketstuff/core/issues/1592. And for each module I crafted a separate ticket. If you don't agree with the removal of the modules, please close the ticket with a comment. Next week I'll instruct my agent to remove all modules that still have an open ticket. FYI: this is the list and reasoning: yui-parent Bundles YUI 2.9.0. YUI 2 was abandoned in 2011 and all of YUI in 2014. wicketstuff-datetime-yui-parent Same YUI 2 bundle (yuiloader, yahoo-dom-event), and still on Joda-Time. wicket-datetime-parent The old Joda-Time DateTextField/DatePicker that was removed from core in Wicket 8. wicket-extensions has had java.time equivalents since then. Its DatePicker also runs on YUI. googlecharts-parent Builds URLs for chart.apis.google.com/chart, the Image Charts API Google shut down in 2019. gchart covers the interactive API. flot-parent Bundles Flot 0.5 (2009) plus excanvas.js, a canvas shim for IE <= 8. jqplot-parent jqPlot 1.0.9. The project has been dead since 2016. simile-timeline-parent MIT SIMILE has been abandoned for over a decade and the code still points to static.simile.mit.edu. Maxim fixed it and added examples this year, so he may want to keep it. openlayers-parent OpenLayers 2 loaded over http://openlayers.org/api/OpenLayers.js. openlayers3-parent already covers OL 10.7. htmlcompressor-parent Depends on Google Code's htmlcompressor 1.5.x, which has been abandoned for over ten years. With gzip/brotli the gain is negligible. gae-initializer-parent "Wicket1.5 on Google AppEngine", on App Engine SDK 1.9.77 for the Java 8 runtime. Google stopped allowing Java 8 deployments on 31 January 2026, and Wicket 10 needs Java 17 anyway. wicketstuff-glassfish4-integration A serializer for CDI proxies in GlassFish 3.1-4.0 (2013). wicket-bundle-parent Repackages wicket-core/util/request into one OSGi bundle, and wicket-ioc with cglib. The Wicket 10 jars are OSGi bundles themselves (Bundle-SymbolicName: org.apache.wicket.core), and wicket-ioc now uses ByteBuddy. wicket-facebook-parent LikeBox, Facepile, ActivityFeed, Recommendations and LiveStream were removed by Facebook around 2015. The Like button and Comments plugin have rendered as an empty 0x0 element since 10 February 2026. nashorn-parent Its point is sandboxed server-side JavaScript through NashornSecurityManager extends SecurityManager. The SecurityManager has been permanently disabled since JDK 24 (JEP 486), so the sandbox no longer works on current JDKs.
