Hello, nice people,

This is just to give you the good news. As of yesterday, the libwpdupgrade cws was integrated in the OOo 2.0 tree. It means not only that as of now the OOo is using libwpd-0.8.0, but also that it can be build using the system libwpd, making thus upgrade much less painfull.

These last days were quite stressful for me, since the integration of our CWS introduced a bad regression where MS Word documents and all other OLE2 documents were making OOo throw exception/crash on certain platforms if they passed by our WordPerfect deep typedetection.
Nonetheless, thanks to a big support and help of Michael Meeks, we managed to handle this situation correctly and there is a patch that is solving this issue.

On this occasion, we would like to thank William Lachance and Marc Maurer for the good idea of writing the libwpd library and for making it such a wonderful piece of software. The thanks go also to all the developpers of the OOo community, especially Rene Engelhard, Michael Meeks and CaolÃn McNamara for their very valuable help in integrating the filter into the OOo tree.

We would not want to leave out those contributors who contributed with their work to the success of the library and import filter. Be it by providing Mac OSX build of the tools or by writing the mapping between WordPerfect character set and Unicode.

And last, but not least, our thanks go to all our users for their encouragement, for reporting bugs and for encouraging the development. People, it is not over, so stay with us :-)

Cheers

Fridrich Strba
A Happy Man
