Hi, I had the same issue with kepler in ubuntu 13.10. The solution in the stack overflow (mentioned by Isuru) worked for me also.
I created a .desktop file as below. [Desktop Entry] Version=4.3.0 Name=Eclipse Comment=IDE for all seasons #Exec=/home/Kavith/eclipse/eclipse Exec=env UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 /home/Kavith/eclipse/eclipse Icon=/home/Kavith/eclipse/icon.xpm Terminal=false Type=Application Categories=Utility;Application Thanks.
