I did think, when I saw an (almost arbitrary?) number of columns.
How to limit it to the number actually used?
That would be very useful.
You won't know exactly. There is no formal way getting these cells.
There are only some heuristics.
As I currently have an issue to enhance it for the XHTML filter
table handling, you will have to wait for the XSLT FAQ ;-)
But in general it's about figuring out the longest row (column/cell
count) by counting only the cells having text content.
(Eventually plus a constant number of cells in case the background color
had been emulated. By this you get a colored frame around the content.
Up to now I avoided to find out the background color doing more complex
operations).
Of course this is only an approximation, but more calc documents become
loadable after the XHTML export.
What do you think of collecting Office specific and major XSLT pattern
in a FAQ?
:-) Yes. a very good idea.
Sorry, no, I simply don't have the bandwidth.
Perhaps an area on the ooo site?
Yes, that's what I thought as well.
It might be merged with the DevelopersGuide and/or written as a Wiki.
I will talk to Jürgen (DevGuide owner) and make some suggestions on this
list as soon I start - right after finishing my current CWS.
Svante
