NullPointerException in initializer of type factory

After compiling my schema, I try out a small test program to try to create
objects:
import java.io.IOException;
import org.apache.xmlbeans.XmlException;
import ....MessageDocument;
import ....MessageType;
public class Test {
public static void main(String[] args) throws XmlException, IOException {
MessageDocument request = MessageDocument.Factory.newInstance();
MessageType message = MessageType.Factory.newInstance();
request.setMessage(message);
}
}
I get the following exception. This occurs because the parameter dimension
which is passed to the SOAPArrayType constructor is null.
