Thanks for the explanation. I was using
https://github.com/dylanmei/docker-zeppelin docker image and now I just realize
it is shipping a spark-2.0.0 version not including hive dependecies
(spark-2.0.0-bin-without-hadoop.tgz) and they are not even distributed with the
separate hadoop package (hadoop-2.7.2.tar.gz). This explains why I was not able
to instantiate a proper hive metastore.
The confusing part is that instead the spark distribution with hadoop
(spark-2.0.0-bin-hadoop2.7.tgz) is distributed with hive jars as well.
So please discard this pull request.
