why do you need multi op? you could do a getChildren() and then shoot off a
bunch of async exists. the problem with doing stat with getChildren() is that
you make the large directory problem (too many entries to respond with a 1M
packet) that much worse. how is multi-op better than shooting off a bunch of
async exists?
