I apologize for the somewhat substance-light addition to the conversation,
but having grafted some super crude histogram upgrades on counters in our
patchset I'd be very much in favor of pulling in a library that does it right,
which this seems to do.
That said, splitting concerns between the new dependency and new metric
also sounds correct to me.---
