Using ZooKeeper 3.5 we just encountered the bug described and fixed in
ZOOKEEPER-2307:
ZooKeeper not starting because acceptedEpoch is less than the currentEpoch
I quickly checked if we can cleanly cherry-pick the fix to branch 3.5, but it
doesn't merge cleanly. I will submit a PR.
