Per https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg21548.html, we've
been having problems with the Open MPI (and Hwloc and MTT) GNU Mailman mailing
lists over the past few months. Our partners at NMC have been working
diligently to resolve the problems. Indeed, we'd like to publicly thank NMC,
who has been extremely generous in keeping our mailing list infrastructure
running smoothly over the years. That being said, given the ongoing
maintenance burden of continuing to host GNU Mailman, it's probably time that
we release NMC from this obligation and move to another mailing list provider.
After some internal discussion, we decided to move all the Open MPI, Hwloc, and
MTT mailing lists to Google Groups:
*
We seeded the Google Groups with the same membership as the GNU Mailman groups.
If you were subscribed before, you should still be subscribed now.
*
Unfortunately, GNU Mailman doesn't let us export whether users opted to receive
messages in digest form, so all users have been subscribed as "regular" users.
*
If you wish to receive Open MPI mails in digest form, you will need to go to
Google Groups and set that up for yourself. Sorry!
*
There will now be 2 mail archives for this mailing list:
*
The Mail Archive for this list
(https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/) will continue to
accumulate messages. It has all the messages since 2016.
*
Note that Mail Archive has a 150KB max size limit on messages. With GNU
Mailman, we could reject messages that were too large. Google Groups does not
allow us to do that, so if someone sends a message with a large-enough
attachment, it unfortunately won't show up in the Mail Archive.
*
The Google Group for this list
(https://groups.google.com/a/lists.open-mpi.org/g/devel) will start to
accumulate as of January 2025 (there is no way to populate a Google Group with
older messages).
This post to the devel list is the first post to an Open MPI list after the
migration; it is a test to see if everything migrated properly. We'll announce
the move to Google Groups on the other lists when we have everything working
properly.
