Hello everyone,

Dear all,

After a long process, I am happy to report that we're close to finally
being able to retire python-mock (which has long been deprecated in
favor of unittest.mock)

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2258085

The following PRs to remove mock usage are still open:

- https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-debianbts/pull-request/1
- https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/pytest/pull-request/70

Current FTBFS:

These packages are currently FTBFS for unrelated reasons and we will
just have to not touch them -- rather than committing a change removing
python-mock usage that we can't easily test.

python-hupper
pychess
and python-tackerclient.

I bumped each of the open PRs. We will wait no longer than a week to merge these PRs with provenpackager privileges, check that nothing else was missed (besides the preexisting FTBFS packages) and then finally (!) retire python-mock. If anyone has any questions or objections, please let us know.

Best,
Maxwell
