I had another idea, which was the first time you connect to a server, and SASL doesn't work, we could ask the user "Try old authentication mechanism?", then set the above checkmark if the login succeeds. If the checkmark is set, we just ignore any SASL mechanisms that the server offers. -- Joe Hildebrand
