        I've seen the warning that Zac refers to from certain applications, 
like the latest Stuffit Expander (who even tells you it can move itself to the 
/Applications dir), but I'm almost certain that doesn't come from the OS. As 
far as I know, the only thing the OS does is what you point out, Evan, which is 
accomplished trough an extended attribute that Safari imparts on every file it 
downloads (if I'm not mistaken, you can test that by downloading a file from 
Firefox and opening it, I'm almost certain you're not going to see the warning 
in that case).
