Chih-Chung has been doing some testing, and is interested in this
optimization question.  We should get real benchmarks.  Depending on network
capacity, moderate frame rates and resolutions may not be such a terrible
thing for large streamed media files.

They're quite slow. Last I heard, Theora in particular was practically
unusable on the machines, depending on a clip's frame rate and
resolution. This is a known problem as Theora's notoriously unoptimized,
but it's a real problem for us.
