I'm not sure what you mean by "DMA is disabled". If you are talking about the PC legacy DMA controller, it is true that is not used. No device needs it.
The other I/O devices - USB, NAND FLASH, SD, Camera, and Audio - all have built-in PCI-style DMA controllers (also known as bus mastering). Those devices do use DMA, and always have.
