Yep, that's happened in the past, obviously just happened again,
and likely will in the future.

I suggest use of: https://github.com/cgwalters/git-evtag
And yes, really need to upstream it into git.  But in the short
term what we should be doing in my opinion is ignoring tarballs
and mirroring git repos - we can compute git-evtag locally as well,
and that replaces the tarball hash.
