New installs for x86-64 VM can be BIOS of UEFI for quite some years.
For both i440fx and q35 variants. 

Migration from BIOS to UEFI would require edit of instance XML but
should not be needed as you would not throw away working computer just
because OS decided to not support it's method of booting.
