Not sure if it's directly related to this discussion, but for what I'd like to 
use it for [0] there's one essential piece missing, persisting temporary state 
back to disk: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223722

[0] To keep rotational disks spun down as much as possible and avoiding writes 
on cheap flash devices that can't take that much writing in the long run.
