Thanks for the pointer! I did a successful local mock-build of debugbreak with 
the patched RPMs from the scratch build linked in 
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2042664#c4, which confirms I really 
am seeing that particular GDB bug.
